The Amazing Creations of a Digital Artist
Digital artist Beeple has created a series of robot dogs wearing incredibly realistic faces of famous people. The collection includes depictions of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Andy Warhol. To achieve the stunning skin texture in each piece, Hyperflesh silicone was used.
A Nightmare Come True
Seeing a robotic dog strolling the streets of San Francisco with Elon Musk’s head is a feeling akin to waking from a nightmare. However, this nightmare became a reality as part of a bizarre art installation that took to the city’s streets last week.
Autonomous Dogs as Art
The autonomous dog was released near Oracle Park last Wednesday. It is part of promoting digital artist Beeple’s new exhibition titled ‘Infinite_Loop,’ which opens on April 18 at the Node digital art center in Palo Alto. Astonishingly, the dog with Musk’s head is not the only one in the ‘Regular Animals’ series.
Each autonomous dog is based on the Unitree Go2 model, which can be purchased for just under $3,000. Beeple has created several such robots, including ones with lifelike faces of Andy Warhol, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Pablo Picasso, and Beeple himself. The silicone masks were produced in collaboration with Hyperflesh.
The Project’s Philosophy
As reported by Node, “Regular Animals reimagines the legacy of pop portraiture, sculpture, and generative art through the lens of technology. Each humanoid robot is not a static object but a liquid digital canvas—its memories are captured, reimagined, and stored on the blockchain.” These strange creations were first presented at Art Basel in Miami last December.
Public and Social Media Reaction

Videos of the Elon Musk robot dog spread across social media after it was filmed on the streets of San Francisco. It looks eerie, almost hinting at how Musk has become so wealthy and powerful that now, through his companies, he participates in the lives of billions of people, always closely watching his followers. The robot dog can even wave its paw, and although its face is static, it might express more emotion than Musk himself.
About the Artist
Mike Winkelmann, better known as Beeple, made international headlines in 2021 when he sold an NFT collage of over 5,000 digital artworks for $69 million.
This project places modern technology in an unexpected context, forcing the viewer to contemplate the boundaries between human and artificial, the cult of personality in the digital age, and how we perceive famous people when their images are literally “embodied” in machines. The use of dogs specifically as carriers of these images may be a reference to loyalty, control, or even the concept of “digital pets” in our society. Such installations often provoke a strong emotional reaction precisely due to their absurdity and violation of familiar notions of reality.
