Scout Motors Is Seeking Employees After Rivian Layoffs
Scout Motors, a new Volkswagen brand in the American market, is actively inviting employees who were recently laid off from Rivian to work. The latter cut over 100 employees at its plant in Normal, Illinois, to optimize production before the launch of the new R2 series.
As reported, Jacopo Marzetti, head of logistics at Scout Motors, urged laid-off Rivian employees to consider employment opportunities at their company. Although the exact number of layoffs at Rivian has not been disclosed, sources indicate around 140 positions.
Differences Between Rivian and Scout Motors
Both companies specialize in electric vehicles, but Scout Motors plans to produce not only pickups and SUVs but also other models. Furthermore, their cars will be cheaper — starting from $50,000 after all incentives, whereas the Rivian R1T and R1S start from $69,900 and $75,900 respectively.
These events are taking place against the backdrop of increasing competition in the electric vehicle market. Scout Motors, with the support of Volkswagen, could become a serious player, especially if it manages to attract experienced specialists from other companies. Rivian, in turn, is focusing on cost optimization ahead of the launch of its new model.
