by The mark with the digital designation 78 will be applied starting next month. It means that the holder of a driver’s license with such a mark can only drive a car with an automatic transmission. If there is no mark, it means a car with any type of transmission.
The changes will not affect those drivers whose driver’s licenses were issued earlier, as clarified by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Essentially, this is bringing Ukrainian licenses in line with EU standards. In addition, in the form of digital designations (rather than pictograms as before), the following will be marked:
- medical reasons for restrictions (glasses, hearing aids)
- vehicle adaptations (modified transmission, etc.)
- driving only during daylight hours
- driving a car only without passengers
- driving within the city/region
