In the USA, a 1967 Toyota 2000 GT was sold at the RM Sotheby’s auction. The Toyota sports car fetched $912,500: you could buy three Lamborghini Aventadors for that price.
The Toyota 2000 GT is already a cult car, the brand’s first sports model. Only 351 of these coupes (and a couple of convertibles for a James Bond movie) have been produced. So it has long been the most expensive Toyota in history – some copies have sold for $1.2 million.
The Toyota 2000 GT sports car is equipped with a two-liter 150-horsepower inline-six engine from Yamaha and a 5-speed manual transmission. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and reaches 220 km/h.
Renowned racer Otto Linton owned this particular car for 30 years.
Not long ago, the Toyota 2000 GT underwent restoration.
