Not only people become movie stars, but also… cars. Screen chases and stunts have turned more than one auto brand into a legend.
The first to come to mind are, of course, the Bond cars. But there are also many other movie cars, as luxurious as a welcome bonus at VIP casino. Let’s recall the most famous cars in cinema.
James Bond’s Cars: The Spy’s Loyal Companions
The easiest way for a car to become famous is to appear in another film of the Bond franchise. Of course, such advertising is available only to the best of the best. James Bond’s cars have always been ultra-ultra – ultra-fast, ultra-luxurious, packed with ultra-modern technology.
Let’s recall the most interesting Bond cars:
- Aston Martin DB5 Vantage from the legendary film “Goldfinger.” One of the most beautiful Bond cars, still catching the eye today. Retractable machine guns, knives, and a smoke screen – it was the “Aston Martin” that popularized such gadgets associated with the popular franchise. The car caused such delight that it appeared in five more films. And the “Aston Martin” brand has forever been linked with James Bond.
- Toyota 2000GT – the first Japanese car of the legendary super spy. The car appeared in the film “You Only Live Twice,” which begins with Bond’s Asian adventures. To fit Sean Connery into the low car – the filmmakers decided to turn it into a convertible. It turned out very well!
- Jaguar CX-75 – probably the most famous car of the modern Bond era. Behind its wheel was Bond’s opponent played by Dave Bautista in the film “007: Spectre.” And although he couldn’t catch up with James, this model of “Jaguar” immediately became a classic for all fans of fast, charged cars.
Legendary Cars from Other Films
The car park of James Bond does not limit the list of movie car legends.
- DeLorean DMC-12 – the very time machine from the “Back to the Future” film series. “You mean to tell me you built a time machine… out of a DeLorean? – I figured, if you’re gonna build a time machine, why not do it with some style?” After the first film hit the screens, the DeLorean with its gull-wing doors became legendary. Unfortunately, the company did not release anything else interesting. But the DMC-12 took its place in the garage of many self-respecting collectors or enthusiasts of good old science fiction.
- Ford Gran Torino. Known to Ukrainian viewers from the drama of the same name directed by Clint Eastwood. In America, the car gained popularity much earlier – in 1975. Movie detectives Starsky and Hutch drove it. And this boosted the car’s popularity so much that “Ford” even released 1,000 cars with a white stripe, as shown in the film.
- Dodge Charger. Who remembers how the “Fast and Furious” film series began? In the first part, Dominic Toretto didn’t blow up trains or launch from the cargo hold of a flying plane. No, he merely participated in illegal races, dreaming of restoring his father’s old car. That Dodge Charger won the hearts of viewers so much that it appeared on screen repeatedly.
Ford Falcon XB GT Interceptor – the perfect car for trips across the scorched, radioactive wastelands. “Mad Max” won’t let you lie. The car was based on standard “Fords” used by Melbourne police. To turn the car into a legend – the engine and suspension had to be replaced. Along with numerous design enhancements.
