The coolest Chevrolet Corvette of the 60s will be sold at supercar prices

American cars of the 60s are powerful, cool, but most of them are not exactly very expensive. Understandably, muscle cars and even the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray were considered quite affordable models in those years and cost much less than Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. However, now collectors are ready to buy these cars at hypercar prices. In the US, the Mecum auction has listed a coupe and a convertible Chevrolet Corvette L88 from 1969, and the estimated cost of this pair is $1.1-1.35 million.

The rarity of these models is the whole point because the L88 is the top and coolest Corvette of the 60s.

Only 216 cars were produced in this version from 1967 to 1969.

The highlight of the Chevrolet Corvette L88 is its seven-liter V8. On paper, it developed 430 hp, but in reality, the power was closer to 550 hp. It was deliberately understated to reduce the car’s insurance premium (which was then calculated based on power).

This Corvette accelerated to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and reached 273 km/h, so it could easily compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini supercars of those years.

Features of the model include an enhanced 4-speed manual transmission, modified suspension, and improved disc brakes on all wheels.

Both cars have been restored and are in excellent condition, with the coupe having only 3200 km on the odometer. They have repeatedly received awards at various retro car contests.
