When compiling the ranking, of course, not only the power and dynamic characteristics of the cars were taken into account but also their practicality, driving comfort, and suitability for everyday use.
10. Volkswagen Golf GTI
The benchmark hot hatch Volkswagen only ranked 10th, although it is fast, practical, and has a quality interior.
9. Audi S3
The premium counterpart of the Golf GTI is a step higher. The Audi S3 is more expensive but also more powerful, with 310 hp.
8. Ford Focus ST
The new Ford Focus has already been introduced, but the previous generation ST is still highly valued. It impressed in a test with us.
7. Ford Fiesta ST-Line
There is, of course, a full-fledged 200-horsepower Fiesta ST, but this 140-horsepower variant is cheaper and more economical.
6. Audi RS3
All-wheel drive, 400 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and a top speed of 280 km/h – this is one of the fastest hot hatches of today.
5. Volkswagen Golf R
The fastest VW Golf accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and is all-wheel drive.
4. Mercedes-AMG A45
The Mercedes hot hatch is expensive, and a new A45 will soon be presented, but its 375 hp is respectable.
3. Hyundai i30N
The new 275-horsepower Hyundai hot hatch surprises with its well-tuned chassis and relatively low price.
2. Ford Focus RS
Ford Focus RS has 350 hp and all-wheel drive, as well as excellent handling.
1. Honda Civic Type R
The Nürburgring record holder among front-wheel-drive cars topped the Top-10 best hot hatches.
Hot hatches to avoid
Alfa Romeo Mito Quadrifoglio Verde
The model is already not new, and thus lags behind major competitors in many respects.
Opel Corsa OPC
The Opel hot hatch is too stiff, and its engine is not the best either.
