JATO Dynamics has published a fresh report on the best-selling cars in Europe. According to the October results, the bestseller became the crossover Peugeot 2008.

Despite the fact that VW Golf has been the absolute leader for many years, this time it didn’t even make it into the top ten most popular models. We think the reason for this is not only (and not so much) the trend for crossovers and not even the high prices for the new Golf, but a microchip shortage, which led to a reduction in Volkswagen production to the lowest level since 1958.

As a result, in October 2021 Volkswagen Golf sales fell by 59% (compared to October 2020).
