In 2020, Ukrainians purchased 85.5 thousand new passenger cars. According to Autoportal, referencing the association “Ukrautoprom”, this is 3% less than the previous year. In December, 9801 cars were sold, marking the best monthly result in the past 6 years.
Compared to other European car markets, the sales decline in Ukraine due to the coronavirus was not as severe. Moreover, sales growth was recorded in six out of the 12 months: January (+34%), February (+21%), June (+12%), July (+10%), September (+6%) and December (+7%).
Negative results were noted in March (-15%), April (-47%), May (-15%), August (-16%), October (-6%) and November (-17%). The most popular car brands in Ukraine have also been named. Renault maintains leadership with 14,360 cars sold. The second place goes to Toyota (13,315 cars), and the third – to Kia (6089). The top five is rounded out by Skoda (5061 units) and Hyundai (4031).
