As is known, the issue of non-customs cleared cars in Ukraine interests not only their owners but also new car sellers. This is because the so-called ‘euro plates’, according to importers and dealers, have significantly shaken the already unstable market of new cars. Judging by June’s sales, there is real confirmation of this.
In June, new car sales in Ukraine declined by almost 10% compared to June 2017, which was not ‘sweet’ either. Most affected by the expansion of cars with euro plates were budget car sellers. Among them, as experts at AUTO-Consulting believe, is the domestic ZAZ, whose sales have plummeted ‘below the baseline’ — to half a hundred cars per month.
In addition to ‘euro plates’, the decline in new car sales was also influenced by cars from the USA and Europe, imported with customs clearance under preferential conditions. Moreover, the drop in demand can be seen not only in the budget car segment but also among premium brands, among which only Mercedes-Benz showed positive dynamics.
