Students from the University of New South Wales (Australia) created the most economical car in the world. To travel 4100 km from Perth to Sydney, it took only 50 dollars.
Violet (that’s the name of the car) is equipped with an electric motor, and its hood and roof are covered with solar panels. However, there are also battery packs, as solar energy is not sufficient. Every day, the electric car covered approximately 600 km, consuming 20-24 kW∙h of electricity—five times less than the Tesla Model 3.
Violet still needed to charge at night, and over six days, those $50 accumulated.
This is already the third attempt to set a record with Violet. In 2017, the car’s rear suspension broke, and in October 2018, the battery caught fire. Now the achievement will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
