Tuning Mercedes-Benz 190 is still popular, even though the model was discontinued 25 years ago. Sometimes the tuning is very interesting, but all have been eclipsed by a project from the USA.
A General Motors engineer turned a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190 E into a formidable drag racing car. He decided on an engine swap and installed a V8 from a Chevrolet Corvette. However, that seemed insufficient, so the V8 was supplemented with a turbocharger.
Now the Mercedes sedan produces 505 hp and runs the ¼ mile in 12.5 seconds. For reference, the stock car had a 90 hp engine, meaning the power has increased more than fivefold.
Additionally, the Mercedes 190 received a body kit and rear spoiler from Zender. The owner claims that this kit is very rare and he hasn’t seen any other 190s with such a body kit.
The owner does not intend to stop there and will continue to tune the Mercedes 190. So soon the car will become even faster.
