In Japan, a very unusual 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL coupe was put up for auction. This is not an ordinary Gullwing, as it was modified by AMG. Hence the estimated price of 1.2-1.4 million dollars.
Only 11 such Mercedes-Benz 300 SL AMG cars were made between 1996 and 2000, with only two being right-hand drive. It looks like an ordinary Mercedes sports car, and only the 17-inch wheels with low-profile tires reveal the AMG version.
The interior features carbon and Alcantara finishes, with sports bucket seats, new instruments, and even a steering wheel with an airbag. The equipment includes power seats, air conditioning, and power steering.
Under the hood hides a six-liter 32-valve V8, producing 380 hp and 580 Nm of torque. With a 4-speed automatic transmission, the Mercedes 300 SL reaches 250 km/h.
The car received a completely new multi-link rear suspension, adjustable Bilstein shocks, and disc brakes from the Mercedes C36 AMG.
