The legendary McLaren F1 has increased in price several times over the past few years. This is not surprising, considering only a hundred road and racing coupes were produced.
Nevertheless, among this limited series, there are its own rarities, and they are fabulously expensive. For example, a rare McLaren F1 LM-Specification was recently auctioned by RM Sotheby’s for $19.8 million.
There are only two McLaren F1 LM-Specification (also known as F1 High Downforce) and this is truly the pinnacle of the iconic model’s development.
The McLaren hypercar began life as a standard F1, but was then returned to the factory in 1997 for refinement. To begin with, the power of the 6.1-liter V12 was increased to 680 hp. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes less than 3 seconds.
In addition, the car was lightened to 1062 kg and a new aero package with body kit and spoiler was developed for it. New suspension springs and wider tires were also installed.
In general, this is the ultimate McLaren F1 and that’s why it’s so expensive. By the way, another McLaren F1 LM-Specification was sold in 2015 for $13.7 million.
