by In this fantastic lowrider, it’s not immediately recognizable as a GAZ-21. The old Volga has been transformed into a bright coupe in the American style.
Work on the project began in 2018 at the Tyumen studio AutoEmotion. The donor was in a deplorable state – rusted and barely running. But now the car has been transformed.
The Volga was lowered, its roof was dropped, and the rear doors were removed, while the rear was done in the spirit of the ZIM GAZ-12 (its lights were also taken). It turned out to be a sort of American hot rod based on the 1949 Mercury.
The tuning of the Volga GAZ-21 also includes the installation of a 4.5-liter Toyota 1FZ-FE engine from a Cruiser and an automatic transmission.
An air suspension with adjustable ride height was also added.
Inside, leather seats and a wooden steering wheel appeared. The project is not yet completed, and the hot rod Volga still awaits some interior work. But the car already runs and shocks onlookers with its appearance.
