Ram appears to be preparing a new high-performance pickup truck focused on highway driving. This is evidenced by a new teaser published on social media.
What is known about the new model
Last year at the presentation of the Ram 1500 SRT TRX, the company’s CEO Tim Kuniskis hinted at the arrival of new powerful versions. Now the brand has published a teaser video featuring well-known UFC representative Dana White. In the clip, the company warns: “It’s about to get loud.”
The video shows the pickup emitting a powerful engine roar and performing smoky donuts to the song Guns N’ Roses “Welcome to the Jungle.” Although the smoke hides most of the details, an aggressive front bumper with triangular air intakes and a wide central opening can be noticed.
Later in the video, a two-tone body paint appears, complemented by black wheels with yellow brake calipers. The vehicle is also equipped with a sport roll cage and a prominent rear spoiler.
The mysterious model strongly evokes associations with the iconic Ram SRT-10. This is great news, as automakers have mostly left the sport pickup segment, focusing on off-road versions.
Technical specifications and prospects
Although there are few official details yet, the characteristics of the Ram TRX give an idea of the new model’s potential. Recall that the TRX is equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 777 hp (579 kW) and 921 Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. This powertrain allows the pickup to accelerate to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 118 mph.
Likely, the new sport pickup will receive a similar engine but with different suspension and transmission settings optimized for paved roads. The official unveiling is expected in the near future.
Ram’s return to the sport pickup segment is a landmark event. Previously, models such as the Ford Lightning and Chevrolet SSR were popular but gave way to SUVs. The new pickup could become a direct competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor R, although the latter is more off-road oriented. Thus, Ram is betting on a niche but emotional market, where buyers value not only power but also unique style and highway dynamics.
