Artificial V8 Engine Sounds and Gear Shifting to Appear in AMG Electric Vehicles

Mercedes-AMG Develops an Electric Car with an “Emotional” Sound

Mercedes-AMG is preparing for production an electric version of the GT XX concept, which may appear as early as 2026. The car will receive a power of 1341 hp, four doors, and the ability to accelerate to 359 km/h. However, the main feature will be the simulation of sounds and vibrations characteristic of conventional internal combustion engines.

AMG’s Technical Director, Markus Schäfer, emphasized that creating an emotional connection between the driver and the car is a key task for the brand:

“How does the car feel in terms of noise, sound level, vibration, gear shifting? It has to touch your emotional side. And if that doesn’t happen, it’s not doing its job.”

Technologies for Sensations

The manufacturer plans to use speakers to reproduce engine sound, as well as a system that simulates gear shifting and creates corresponding vibrations. This approach has already been successfully implemented in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, which indicates its viability.

Electric vehicles are opening new horizons for the automotive industry, and brands like AMG cannot ignore these changes. Implementing technologies that add emotion to electric cars is becoming key to preserving brand identity. The success of similar solutions from other manufacturers gives reason to expect that AMG will manage to create a truly exciting driving experience.
