Škoda’s Speed Concept Proves: Carbon Fiber Adds Speed

Skoda Introduces New Enyaq RS Race Concept

Skoda has presented a conceptual version of the Enyaq RS Race, which is based on the updated Enyaq Coupe RS. This model differs from the production version in significant weight optimization and the use of eco-friendly materials, which could become the basis for future production vehicles.

To reduce weight, engineers applied bio-composite elements made from flax fibers, which in their characteristics are not inferior to carbon analogs. These materials are used in the bumpers, fenders, roof, and other body parts. Additionally, weight is reduced thanks to polycarbonate windows – the total savings amount to 316 kg.

Technical Features

The concept is equipped with wide body cladding, aerodynamic elements, and OZ Racing alloy wheels. The braking system is carbon-ceramic, with powerful calipers. The interior is completely redesigned for racing needs: most standard elements are absent, instead, a safety cage, sports seats, and a special sound system that mimics the engine sound at high speeds are installed.

The suspension received adjustable shock absorbers and a ground clearance lowered by 70 mm. The electric drive with two motors (335 hp) allows acceleration to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

This project demonstrates how technologies from racing cars can be integrated into mass production, especially in the areas of environmental friendliness and weight optimization. The use of bio-composites opens new possibilities for creating lighter, but no less durable structures in future Skoda models.
