Singer Presents a Limited Restomod Porsche 911 (964) Carrera Cabriolet with Widebody and 420 Horsepower

Singer 911 Carrera Cabriolet (964)

The Californian company Singer has unveiled a new project, a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (964), reimagined as a limited-edition restomod with an open-top body. The model was announced in Los Angeles as a client commission, inspired by the atmospheric widebody versions of the Carrera Cabriolet from the mid-1980s. Only 75 cars will be built. This is reported by Classic Driver.

The project is based on a reworked 4.0-liter Type 964 flat-six engine, developed by Singer in collaboration with Cosworth. The engine produces 420 hp, revs to over 8000 rpm, and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels.

Singer 911 Carrera Cabriolet (964): Engineering and Chassis

For this project, Singer has for the first time applied variable valve timing, water-cooled cylinder heads combined with air cooling, and an electric fan borrowed from the DLS Turbo program. A titanium exhaust is also available, as well as an optional raised shift lever with an exposed linkage mechanism.

The body is made from carbon composite after completely stripping the donor 964 Cabriolet down to its steel monocoque and reinforcing it. The suspension features four-way adjustable electronically controlled dampers and a front axle lift system. Brakes can be carbon-ceramic.

Singer 911 Carrera Cabriolet (964): Roof and Equipment

The model is equipped with a new lightweight soft-top featuring a Z-fold mechanism that preserves a clean silhouette whether the roof is up or down. Aerodynamics are improved by a front splitter and air intakes in the rear wings, while the rear spoiler can be fixed or active.

The interior combines bespoke materials, leather, and signature Singer instruments with integrated navigation and smartphone support. Several driving modes are provided, including the complete deactivation of Bosch electronic aids—ABS, traction control, and stability control.
