Skoda Prepares an Electric Station Wagon
In September, at the auto show in Munich, Skoda will present a concept of a fully electric station wagon, which will become the prototype of the future Octavia Combi EV. The production version of the model, expected by the end of the decade, will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s SSP platform.
Although station wagons are no longer as popular among family cars, Skoda continues to develop this direction. The concept will be about 4.7 meters long and will feature a modern design with sharp lines and a sporty stance. The launch was initially planned for 2026, but the deadlines have been shifted.
The original Octavia Combi remains Skoda’s most popular model in Europe, despite a 21% drop in sales in the first five months of 2025.
Electrification and Traditional Engines
Skoda does not plan to abandon conventional engines – petrol, diesel, and hybrid versions of the Octavia will remain in the lineup. In 2026, the brand will also present the affordable Epiq electric crossover for €25,000 and a large SUV based on the Vision 7S concept.
In May 2025, Skoda surpassed Tesla in electric vehicle sales volumes in Europe for the first time, thanks to the success of the Elroq, Enyaq, and Enyaq Coupe models. This indicates a growing demand for electric vehicles from the Czech brand, which is gradually expanding its range. At the same time, classic station wagons with internal combustion engines continue to find their buyers, allowing Skoda to respond flexibly to market trends.
