Škoda Modernized Its 1899 Motorcycle in a Contemporary Style

Skoda’s Electric Motorcycle Concept is Inspired by the Brand’s History

Skoda designer Roman Bujak has created a cafe racer-style electric motorcycle concept inspired by the historic 1899 Laurin & Klement Slavia B model. This is part of a series of creative projects where the company’s designers experiment with unconventional ideas.

The modern concept features a low handlebar stance and a seat that “hovers” over the rear wheel. Unlike the original with its 1.7-horsepower engine, this version will be electric and significantly more powerful. The designer preserved the V-shaped frame, which references Škoda’s signature style, and added a leather tool cover – a detail characteristic of early motorcycles.

“I wanted to create something unique and return to the brand’s origins,” said Bujak, who studied mechanical engineering before transitioning to design.

Although the concept looks attractive, Skoda does not plan to put it into production. This is another creative experiment that demonstrates how contemporary design can reinterpret historical models. The brand’s history began precisely with bicycles and motorcycles, so such a concept is a kind of return to the roots for a company now associated with cars.
