Only God really knows how many cars with foreign plates are not cleared through customs in Ukraine. But there is statistics, which, as they say, does not lie. So, according to the latest data from the State Fiscal Service, almost 1 million cars on foreign registration were imported to Ukraine in just the first half of the year!
To be more precise – 911 thousand cars not cleared through customs. This information was provided by the SFS upon request to the Auto24 website. These are cars brought under two schemes – transit and temporary import. Does this mean they all remained in Ukraine? No, because there are “re-entries” and so on, so it is practically impossible to calculate the exact number of “Euro-cars.”
Nevertheless, if you compare official figures for cars that left and did not leave, the picture is as follows – the territory of Ukraine has 2.6 times more cars with foreign registration brought in over half a year than in the same period of 2017.
Recall that recently, the chairman of the committee on tax and customs policy, Nina Yuzhanina, stated that law enforcement agencies would soon check through customs records all individuals who imported vehicles with European registration into the country.
According to her, it is also necessary to clarify how many cars with Euro plates one non-resident imported into Ukraine.
Moreover, as you know, the Verkhovna Rada was supposed to consider (but so far the deputies have not gotten around to it) bill 8487, which proposes new rates for customs clearance of used cars in Ukraine.
