by McLaren F1 – a cult model of the 90s, which was the fastest car in the world for 10 years. Even now, its top speed of 386 km/h commands respect. 
Of course, the McLaren hypercar was never cheap. Initially, it cost a million dollars, and now some examples sell for $10-15 million. It is a rarity, as only 64 road cars were produced.
Maintaining such an expensive car is costly and specific. One of the McLaren F1 owners, Bruce Weiner, spoke about it. He bought the hypercar used and experienced all the pleasures of its operation. 
When purchasing a used McLaren F1, the factory performs a free diagnostic. This is done remotely using an ancient Compaq laptop (which comes with the car) and a built-in modem.
Modern computers do not support McLaren’s software. 
Even if the hypercar is rarely used, the clutch must still be replaced every three years, and the fuel tank every five years ($110,000). A special ultra-light fire extinguisher costs 800 bucks! 
The previous owner, for some reason, decided to repaint the McLaren coupe. He sent the car to the factory, where the entire procedure took six months and cost 50,000 pounds sterling ($66,000)!
Tire replacement costs $50,000 because the McLaren F1 is then taken to a racetrack to have its suspension retuned. The tire set itself costs $7,000. And Bruce didn’t even have to overhaul the McLaren engine – he sold the car before the scheduled maintenance.
