The modest Toyota Corolla 2022 turned out to be resistant to depreciation

Toyota Corolla with manual transmission retained its value

Usually, cars depreciate quickly, but this Toyota Corolla was an exception. It sold for only $3,280 less than the original price, making it one of the best options for buying on the secondary market.

The example in Magnetic Gray Metallic had a black interior and slightly over 19,000 miles. Among the features are Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and safety systems such as blind-spot monitoring.

The key feature of this model was the manual transmission, which is no longer offered in the regular Corolla—now it is only available in the sporty GR Corolla version.

Although this Corolla XSE is not a true “hot” hatchback, it offers decent dynamics (0-60 mph in 8 seconds) and fuel efficiency (38 mpg). Despite the highest bid at the auction being $22,000, the seller and buyer agreed on a deal for $23,500.

Similar trends are observed among other 2022 Corolla XSE models—many of them still sell at prices close to new cars. At the same time, the new 2025 models no longer offer a manual transmission, which may explain the sustained demand for used examples with this type of transmission.
