A high-profile film project about the brand’s founders
Maserati is currently going through tough times, but its history is full of glorious chapters. These are exactly what they decided to bring to the screen in the film Maserati: The Brothers.
The movie, which will be released “very soon,” is being produced by the producer of Ferrari and Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend. The former received fairly favorable reviews and holds a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the Lamborghini biopic was torn apart by critics — only 6% rating.
Star-studded cast
The film will feature Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino, and Andy Garcia. According to IMDb, they will be joined by Salvatore Esposito, who will play Bindo Maserati, Matteo Bassi as Ettore Maserati, Michele Morrone playing Alfieri Maserati, and Lorenzo de Moor as Carlo Maserati. In addition, an actor named Leo Ferrari will take on the role of Ernesto Maserati.
The plot promised by the synopsis
Not much is known about the film yet. The synopsis reads:
“The film tells the story of the Maserati family’s journey — from founding the company in 1914 to becoming a renowned Italian manufacturer of luxury cars competing with Ferrari and Lamborghini.”
Trailer and key highlights
The trailer clearly shows the company’s early years: the relationships between the brothers, their romantic interests. Then the focus shifts to racing and hints at the brand’s victory at Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940. After that, viewers are met with a sad Jessica Alba, dangerous moments, and a crash ending in an explosion.
Despite the large number of events, Car and Driver reports that the film focuses on the lives of Alfieri, Bindo, and Carlo Maserati. It also notes that the project was directed by Robert Moresco — the same one who made the disastrous Lamborghini film.

What to expect from the premiere
Automobile brand biopics are becoming increasingly popular, and the Maserati story has every chance of becoming one of the most striking. It is not just a tale of luxury and speed, but also a family drama unfolding against the backdrop of the rise of the Italian automotive industry. Let’s hope that this time the screenwriters and director will be able to avoid the mistakes that caused the previous Lamborghini film to receive devastating criticism. At the very least, the cast is already drawing attention: the names of Hopkins and Pacino always add prestige to any project.
