Special 1965 Mini Version to Cost Nearly $50,000

Mini Presents New Special Series to Commemorate 1965 Victory

Mini has decided to move away from traditional anniversary celebrations and presented the special 1965 Victory Edition series, dedicated to the victory at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally. This is an unusual date to celebrate, but the brand used it as an opportunity to create a unique model.

The car, based on the Cooper, received a bright red body with a full-length white stripe and graphics with the number “52” on both sides. Additionally, the model is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, a “1965” decal on the pillar, and 18-inch alloy wheels in black or two-tone finish.

Interior Updates and Technical Specifications

The interior also received a number of special elements, including sill plates, a sports steering wheel with a 1965 logo, two-tone accents, “52” graphics, and a special storage box in the center console. Furthermore, a hidden decal is placed on the door, reminding of Timo Mäkinen’s victory at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally behind the wheel of a Cooper S.

Customers are offered three powertrain options. The base Cooper S version is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 201 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. The more powerful JCW version has a 228 hp engine and reaches 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The electric John Cooper Works Electric version with 255 hp accelerates to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and has a 49.2 kWh battery.

Availability and Market Features

The special series will go on sale later this year in various markets, but with some regional differences. For example, only the JCW version will be available in the American market, with a starting price of $46,220 excluding additional fees. This decision highlights that the manufacturer adapts its offerings to the demand and regulatory requirements of individual countries.

The creation of such special series dedicated to specific historical events, rather than round dates, is becoming an interesting trend in the automotive industry. This allows brands to emphasize their heritage and uniqueness, attracting both history enthusiasts and those seeking exclusivity. The technical specifications of the various options show that even in a limited series, Mini tries to cater to different needs—from traditional gasoline engines to fully electric solutions, reflecting the general direction of the automotive market.
