BMW is Preparing an Electric M3: What We Know
BMW is preparing a revolutionary novelty – the first full-fledged electric M3. This model has always been the benchmark for a sports car with everyday practicality. Now the company is expanding the lineup by adding a fully electric version to the classic petrol variant.
Despite the fact that the current G80 M3 generation remains competitive, engineers are already actively testing the next generation. Prototypes of the electric M3 have been spotted multiple times on the Nürburgring. Unlike some competitors, BMW does not plan to use theatrical artificial engine sounds for its electric model.
Our photographers have repeatedly captured the prototype on the Nürburgring. Judging by everything, BMW does not plan to copy Dodge’s approach with artificial engine sound
The design of the novelty will correspond to the Neue Klasse philosophy – with characteristic headlights that smoothly transition into the radiator grille, massive wheel arches, and recessed door handles. Although the prototype has a strange sensor on the roof, it will not be present in the production version.
Technical details have not been officially confirmed yet, but the M3 EV is expected to get four electric motors with a torque vectoring system. This will allow for the effective use of over 700 hp of power both on the road and on the track.
Although most owners are unlikely to test their M3 on a race track, BMW engineers traditionally tune their cars for high dynamic performance. And judging by the prototype’s behavior on the Nürburgring, the electric M3 has every chance to continue the legendary sports tradition.
