We have found out the cause and effect of yesterday’s news about the new ZAZ crossover. It’s worth noting that some took these rumors at face value, while others, on the contrary, decided it was nothing more than an information injection.
To clarify the situation, we decided to contact ZAZ. More precisely, the UkrAVTO corporation, which owns the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Building Plant. After all, it is well known that ZAZ produces models of foreign brands, and the ZAZ Odessa crossover (as it was dubbed online) might supposedly represent a rebranded Chinese FAW Besturn T77.

In some media, information materials appear mentioning the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Building Plant, which is allegedly planning to establish the production of a crossover in the near future in collaboration with one of the Chinese manufacturers. Meanwhile, resources refer to unofficial sources. The UkrAVTO corporation has always adhered to a policy of openness and appeals to the media to follow journalistic ethics, one of the main positions of which is fact-checking for accuracy and seeking information from official sources.
According to UkrAVTO press secretary Dmitry Sklyarenko, “The Zaporizhzhia Automobile Building Plant has no joint projects with FAW Group.”
The largest operator in the new car market and provider of service services, the Ukrainian Automobile Corporation, which includes the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Building Plant, states that it is not conducting any negotiations with FAW Group and does not plan to launch a production project using the aggregate base of the models of the above-mentioned car manufacturer. Currently, the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Building Plant is producing a number of Groupe Renault models, as well as KIA models.
The conclusion is simple: ZAZ Odessa is the result of an information injection, not agreements between ZAZ and a Chinese car manufacturer.
