Stellantis Announces Powerful Electric Crossover from Its Brand

Opel Transitions Its GSE Sports Line to Electric Cars

Opel has announced that its GSE sub-brand, which specializes in sports models, will now produce exclusively electric vehicles. The first new product will be the Mokka GSE, whose presentation is planned for this year.

Previously, the GSe line (with lowercase letters) included hybrid versions of the Astra, Astra Sports Tourer, and Grandland models. Henceforth, the sub-brand has received a new logo with uppercase letters GSE, which will be used only for electric cars. As the company explains:

“G stands for Grand, engineering, goosebumps, the sensation of acceleration; S for sport, speed, S-bends; and E for electricity, ecstasy, and euphoria”.

What is Known About the New Mokka GSE

The sports versions will receive a more aggressive design, an updated suspension, and improved handling. However, Opel does not plan to create racing cars – GSE models are designed for comfortable driving, including at high speeds. Technical details have not been disclosed yet, but it is expected that the Mokka GSE will inherit the characteristics of the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce with a power of about 278 hp.

According to the teaser, the new model will feature bright accents in the exterior: yellow brake calipers, special stickers, and possibly updated bumpers. The company has already launched an advertising campaign called “OMG! GSE,” which aims to convey the emotions of driving an electric car. Opel CEO Florian Hüttl stated:

“GSE is about dynamics and emotions. In 2025, we will take the next step by introducing fully electric models. This will prove how powerful and inspiring the electric vehicle movement can be”.

The updated Mokka GSE is set to debut in 2025. The previous generation of this model appeared in 2020 and recently received a minor facelift. Simultaneously, Opel is preparing other electric sports models, although details remain unknown for now. Given the general trend, the brand may introduce a range of powerful electric cars in various segments in the coming years.
