Stellantis turned the most affordable SUV into a wooden house with panoramic views

Opel Frontera now comes with a rooftop tent

The Opel Frontera, positioned as an affordable family SUV, now offers even more travel opportunities. The Thule Foothill rooftop tent is mounted on aluminum roof rails that can support up to 240 kg. It provides a sleeping area measuring 2.13×1.19 m, protection from rain and insects, and compact storage.

Interestingly, Opel showcased this accessory on the base Edition model with white steel wheels, emphasizing its focus on budget-conscious buyers. The Frontera offers a spacious interior and a trunk capacity ranging from 460 to 1,600 liters, making it convenient for travel.

Technical Features

The tent is compatible with all versions of the Frontera, including hybrid and electric. The hybrid variant uses a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 99 hp and an electric motor support of 28 hp. The tent itself costs around €2,447, while additional roof rails will cost another €298.

Similar solutions are already available on the market, such as for the Dacia Jogger and Duster. However, Opel emphasizes the combination of affordability, practicality, and the ability to quickly turn a regular SUV into a mobile camper. This could be an interesting option for those looking for an inexpensive way to enjoy active recreation without needing to buy a specialized vehicle.
