Stellantis appoints new leader who will focus on the American market

New Stellantis CEO: Who is Antonio Filosa?

Stellantis has appointed a new CEO—Antonio Filosa. He will replace Carlos Tavares, who stepped down six months ago. Filosa previously headed Jeep and oversaw Stellantis’ operations in North and South America. His primary task will be to revive the company after a challenging period of declining profits and sales.

Filosa was born in Naples, Italy, in 1973. He has been with the company for 25 years, starting in 1999. During this time, he rose from an ordinary employee to a regional division leader. In 2018, he took charge of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ operations in South America, and after the merger with PSA in 2021, he continued to lead this division.

Challenges for the new leader

Filosa assumes the role during a difficult period for Stellantis. The board of directors selected him for his “proven experience, deep knowledge of the company, and leadership qualities.” Executive Chairman John Elkann noted that Filosa has already demonstrated effective leadership during crises.

“It is a great honor for me to lead this fantastic company. I am grateful for the trust and inspired by the talent of our people,” said Filosa.

On June 23, he will introduce Stellantis’ new leadership team. His strategy will likely focus on strengthening the company’s brand positions and attracting customers through innovative products.

Stellantis has a rich history and strong brands such as Jeep, Fiat, and Peugeot. However, in recent years, the company has faced declining sales, particularly in some key markets. Filosa will need to quickly adapt the strategy to ensure stability amid global changes in the automotive industry.
