Stellantis and Leapmotor Found an Unexpected Partner in the German Tuning Scene

Limited Edition Electric Crossover from Leapmotor and Irmscher

Despite increasing import duties, Chinese automakers continue to actively conquer the European market with electric vehicles. Leapmotor, partially owned by Stellantis, has taken a new step by collaborating with the German tuning atelier Irmscher on a special version of its electric C10 crossover.

The model, named i C10, was first announced by Irmscher several months ago. It has now entered the official Leapmotor model lineup in Germany as a limited edition of only 250 cars.

Irmscher has established itself as an expert in refining Opel models and occasionally Fiat, which explains its connection with Stellantis.

According to representatives, the i C10 marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between Irmscher and Leapmotor, indicating the possibility of similar modifications for other brand models in the future.

Sporty Look and Exterior

The sports version of the mid-size crossover received a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels that look larger than the standard 20-inch wheels. The car’s exterior remained almost unchanged, except for a more pronounced rear spoiler.

The tuner also added a red stripe on the profile, as well as corresponding accents on the front splitter and center caps. Furthermore, an “i C10” emblem appeared on the tailgate below the Leapmotor lettering.

Technical Updates

In addition to visual improvements, Irmscher installed a stiffer suspension designed to enhance handling. This is the only mechanical change, as the dual-motor powertrain remained untouched.

Fortunately, the i C10 is based on the most powerful all-wheel-drive variant of the crossover, producing a combined power of 590 hp. According to Leapmotor, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4 seconds.

The all-wheel-drive model is equipped with an 81.9 kWh battery, providing a range of 437 km. The same battery in the rear-wheel-drive version with a single 215 hp motor allows for up to 510 km of range.

Leapmotor continues to offer the standard C10 with rear-wheel drive and a smaller 69.9 kWh battery, providing 420 km of range. There is also a range-extender version, which includes a 1.5-liter engine, a 212 hp electric motor, and a 28.4 kWh battery, promising over 950 km of total range.

Price and Availability

In Germany, the Leapmotor i C10 by Irmscher starts from 49,900 euros. This is 5,000 euros more expensive than the flagship C10 ProMax AWD, which starts from 44,900 euros. For comparison, the base rear-wheel-drive model with the smaller battery starts from 36,400 euros.

This project demonstrates how European tuning companies are adapting to new market challenges by collaborating with Chinese manufacturers to create exclusive products. The limited edition could serve as a test for future joint projects, especially considering Stellantis’s plans for the global distribution of Chinese EVs through its own dealer network.
