Subaru warns about price increases due to tariffs you definitely won’t pay

Subaru has informed dealers that the current prices may change due to tariffs imposed by Trump.

If you are considering buying a new car, you can save thousands by acting before April 2.

Despite the company producing various cars in America, imported vehicles may be affected by a 25% tariff.

The Vice President of Subaru of America for vehicle planning and logistics, Lisa Khwan, reportedly warned sellers about upcoming tariffs. This message seems to have been sent before the tariffs were introduced by President Trump, highlighting the industry’s uncertainty.

In the mentioned letter, Lisa Khwan noted that the company was “actively assessing the potential consequences of tariffs” and indicated that they would certainly raise the cost of doing business. Given the overall instability of the time, she stated that “current car prices cannot be protected and may be subject to change… after April 2.”

This date is when the new car tariffs are due to take effect, but Trump has already delayed previously planned tariffs on Canada and Mexico. This makes it uncertain whether the promised tariffs will come into effect and if they will be as high as promised.

Subaru is far from the only company that would be affected by the ‘Trump tax.’ Recently, BMW informed its dealers that… at least initially. However, since the target is now all imported products, it is possible that this ‘dam’ has already been broken.

Returning to Subaru, the company has a plant in Indiana where various models are produced, including the Ascent, Crosstrek, and Outback. The automaker also plans to release an American electric crossover, which will be produced by Toyota.

This provides them with some additional protection, but some models are still made abroad, including the BRZ and …. The cost of the electric crossover starts at $38,495, so a 25% tariff could add $9,623.75 to the price, if Subaru does not cover part of the damage.
