Subaru Prepares the Premiere of the First Wilderness Series Hybrid
Subaru has announced the debut of its first hybrid off-roader with the Wilderness index next week. The premiere will take place at the auto show in New York, and it is most likely to be the hybrid version of the popular Forester crossover.
Technical Features of the New Model
The model is expected to receive a hybrid powertrain based on a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine combined with a lithium-ion battery and two electric motors integrated into a continuously variable transmission. The total power of such a system should be 194 horsepower. The hybrid Forester is also noted for its high fuel efficiency.
Updated Design and Improved Off-Road Capabilities
In addition to being eco-friendly, the Wilderness hybrid version will receive characteristic stylistic and technical updates. Among them are unique front lighting, a radiator grille, underbody protection, as well as special fog lights and copper-colored accents. The exterior will be complemented by a matte hood decal that reduces glare.
The interior will be equipped with comfortable seats made from eco-friendly StarTex leather, with copper contrast stitching and embroidery on the headrests. Available features will include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a multimedia system with navigation on an 11.6-inch screen.
Enhanced Off-Road Capability for Adventure
The most important feature of the Wilderness series remains the raised suspension, which provides 9.3 inches (236 mm) of ground clearance. The vehicle will also receive 17-inch matte-black wheels shod with all-terrain tires, significantly expanding its capabilities beyond paved roads.
The appearance of a hybrid version in the Wilderness lineup is a logical step for Subaru, which is gradually electrifying its entire model range. This allows the brand to combine its reputation as a manufacturer of reliable off-roaders with modern demands for environmental friendliness and efficiency. Such models could become key to attracting a new audience that values both the possibility of active outdoor recreation and a conscious attitude towards emissions. The success of this model could determine the brand’s further strategy for implementing hybrid technologies in other off-road series.
