New Subaru Crosstrek 2026: Updates and Hybrid Version
Subaru has updated the Crosstrek model for the 2026 year, adding a hybrid version and improving the base trims. The hybrid variant is available in two trims – Sport Hybrid and Limited Hybrid, which cost $3,370 and $2,000 more than their conventional counterparts, respectively.
The hybrid version received a unique powertrain with a 2.5-liter boxer engine, a lithium-ion battery, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with two electric motors. Despite the lack of official fuel economy data, the system provides a total power output of 194 hp.
Updates for All Versions
The base Crosstrek is now equipped with a 2.5-liter engine instead of the previous 2.0-liter one, resulting in a power increase from 152 to 180 hp. For an additional $435, buyers also get side airbags for rear passengers, a keyless access system, and an automatic engine stop/start function.
Top trims have gained additional safety features, including a blind-spot warning system and emergency steering assist. The Limited Hybrid received a premium 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and exclusive seat upholstery.
It is worth noting that all 2026 models have received black exterior emblems, and non-hybrid versions have a new eight-speed manual mode for transmission shifting. These updates make the 2026 Crosstrek more competitive in the compact crossover market.
