New Subaru Impreza 2026: Price Increase and Changes in Trims
Subaru has introduced the updated Impreza for the 2026 model year, but the car can no longer be called budget-friendly. The starting price is $26,595, which is $2,235 higher than last year. However, this is explained by the discontinuation of the cheapest Base trim. When comparing similar versions, the price increase turned out to be insignificant—only $235 for the Sport and $245 for the RS.
The top RS trim received an updated 2.5-liter engine, but its power decreased from 182 to 180 hp. The manufacturer claims this has improved low-end torque. Both versions—Sport and RS—are equipped with all-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission.
Additional Changes and Prices
Among other innovations are an automatic engine shut-off system after 30 minutes of idling, black emblems, and a new Citron Yellow Pearl paint for $395. Also, trims with blind-spot monitoring now feature an emergency lane-holding function.
Production of the new Impreza is set up in Japan, and deliveries to dealers will begin this fall. Here are the official prices:
Model | Base Price | With Delivery |
---|---|---|
Impreza Sport | $26,595 | $27,790 |
Impreza RS | $29,495 | $30,690 |
Despite the slight decrease in power, Subaru continues to emphasize reliability and handling. The updates primarily concerned electronic safety systems, which could be a decisive argument for buyers looking for not just an affordable but also a technologically advanced car.
