Suzuki Jimny Closely Approaches Toyota Style

New Look for Suzuki Jimny

The long-term collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota has led to a series of rebadged models, but the popular Jimny has remained untouched until now. Japanese tuning atelier ill Garage has found an original solution by developing an exterior conversion kit that allows this off-roader to borrow some features from Toyota.

Inspired by Toyota Hilux Champ Model

The CH:AMP conversion borrows its identity from the Toyota Hilux Champ pickup, which is known in other regions as Rangga, Stout, or Tamaraw. Recently, the Champ has gained more recognition as the basis for Toyota’s new “small” Land Cruiser FJ.

What Exactly Has Been Changed?

At the front, the vehicle has received rectangular headlights, an angular radiator grille, and a two-section front bumper that reproduces the simple and functional design of Toyota’s budget workhorse, while also hinting at the Land Cruiser FJ.

Each component is finished in black to harmonize with the extended fenders and contrasting roof of the demonstration vehicle. The example shown is also equipped with custom wheels with robust tires, and a set of lowering springs reduces the ground clearance by 1.5 inches (38 mm). Additional towing hooks add a bit of bravado.

For the interior, the tuner offers retro-inspired seat covers in Cognac Brown or Charcoal Black, combining leather with woven inserts and rear storage pockets.

The Result of Garage Ill’s Work

The result is a Jimny that could easily be mistaken for a Toyota, were it not for the tuner’s decision to place the CH:AMP lettering on the grille in bright red, likely as a precaution to avoid claims from Toyota’s legal department.

The conversion is suitable for both the three-door Jimny Sierra and the five-door Jimny Nomad, although the kei car version with a narrow body remains out of focus. Buyers can choose parts separately or entrust ill Garage with the entire process, ordering a new or used Jimny already converted and delivered.

Kit Cost

The price starts from ¥360,800 (approximately $2,300) for the basic package with halogen headlights, or ¥386,100 (approximately $2,500) for LED units. Painting and installation add additional costs, depending on the customer’s choice.

Additional upgrades include lowering springs for ¥55,000, imitation towing hooks for ¥49,000 (approximately $320), and genuine towing hooks for ¥98,000 (approximately $640). A set of Baja-style fog lights costs ¥165,000 (approximately $1,100).

For those who want more visual impact, a sturdy rear bumper will cost ¥132,000 (approximately $860), while a sports exhaust costs an additional ¥66,000 (approximately $430). Retro seat covers are priced at ¥85,800 (approximately $560).

It is worth noting that Garage Ill also offers a Jimny conversion to Ford Bronco for those who prefer a more American style. Both assemblies can be seen in the official video below.

This project demonstrates how even small design changes can dramatically alter a car’s impression, giving it new features and character. Using elements from other brands without direct copying helps avoid legal problems while satisfying the demand of car enthusiasts for unique solutions. Similar tuning offers can become an alternative for those looking for something different from serial models without resorting to a complete overhaul.
