Fresh vehicle reliability rating: the quality of new cars has significantly deteriorated

The new vehicle reliability rating indicates that the quality of new cars has deteriorated to a 36-year low. According to the American agency JD Power, the number of complaints from car owners has increased by 11% over the year.

David Amodeo, Director of Global Automotive at JD Power, notes that considering the challenges faced by car manufacturers and their dealers in 2021, it’s a bit surprising that the quality hasn’t declined even more sharply.

Buick topped the reliability rating, followed by Dodge and Chevrolet. Also, Genesis and KIA made it to the top five. Lexus was ranked 6th. At the bottom of the ranking were Maserati, Volvo, and Chrysler. The report also states that fans of hybrids and electric models complain about their cars more often than owners of internal combustion engines.
