Fresh exclusive from Mini — it is the same car, just twice and in mirror image

Mini continues its series of special editions by unveiling new Rooftop Editions. This is already the fifth of eight new limited series the brand plans to release this year.

The special editions, based on the Cooper S 2-Door and Cooper S 4-Door, are named after the popular contrasting roof and feature a so-called “reversed color scheme.”

Two-tone exterior

One version has a body in Indigo Sunset Blue Metallic, complemented by Melting Silver III Metallic on the roof and mirror caps. The other is the opposite: the body is finished in Melting Silver III Metallic, while the roof and mirrors are Indigo Sunset Blue Metallic. The bold design is completed by contrasting stripes on the hood and tailgate.

Interior and equipment

The interior is largely inherited from the standard model, but the special version is equipped with John Cooper Works sport seats with “Mini” lettering on the backrests. The cabin is finished in black Vescin Black with contrasting stitching on the steering wheel and blue accents on the dashboard.

The special version gets 17-inch alloy wheels, glossy black exterior elements, and power front seats with an active function for the driver. It is based on the Iconic Trim with the Comfort Package Plus, which adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, augmented reality navigation, and Parking Assist Plus. Other benefits include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless smartphone charger, premium Harman Kardon audio system, and keyless entry.

Engine and price

Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 201 horsepower (150 kW / 204 PS) and 221 lb-ft (299 Nm) of torque. It works with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 6.3 seconds.

The price starts at $39,995 excluding the $1,350 destination charge. Deliveries are expected to begin in October. The 4-Door version costs slightly more — $40,995 excluding delivery.

These limited series are a great way for Mini to attract attention to the brand among connoisseurs of unusual cars. Rooftop Editions stand out not only for their bright two-tone paintwork, but also for their rich equipment, making them attractive to those looking for a ready-made car with a full package of options. Given the limited production run, such versions often become collector’s items, so brand fans should hurry to place orders. In addition, experiments with color schemes emphasize Mini’s distinctive style and allow each special series to have its own personality.
