Trump’s Tariffs Made Mitsubishi Crossovers More Expensive

Mitsubishi Increases Car Prices

The Mitsubishi company has announced an increase in prices for its cars by an average of 2.1%, which will come into effect as early as tomorrow. This means that buyers will have to pay several hundred dollars more for new models. However, the price increase will only apply to new shipments, so cars already in dealerships will remain at the old price.

As reported, this decision was the result of regular market price analysis to remain competitive in its segment. For example, the base Outlander now costs $29,645, and after the increase, its price will rise to $30,268. A similar situation applies to the Eclipse Cross model, which may become more expensive by approximately $557.

Reasons for the Changes

The main reason for the price increase is likely to be tariff restrictions. Mitsubishi has already faced problems due to a 25 percent tariff on car imports, which forced the company to temporarily suspend shipments to dealers. Although shipments resumed last week, the situation remains unstable, and further price changes are possible.

Mitsubishi is not the only company forced to raise prices due to external factors. Similar steps were taken earlier by Ford, Subaru, and Ineos, increasing the cost of their models by up to $2,000. This indicates a general trend in the automotive industry, where manufacturers are trying to adapt to new economic conditions.

Buyers planning to purchase a Mitsubishi car should consider that prices may continue to rise, so it is better to make a purchase decision sooner. However, it is worth remembering that models already at dealers remain at old prices, which could be a good opportunity to save money.
