Cadillac’s Secret Weapon: Electric Vehicles Winning Over Tesla Customers at an Unexpected Speed

Cadillac is attracting Tesla customers to its electric vehicles

Electric vehicles have long ceased to be a niche or novelty. As manufacturers fill the market with new models, competition intensifies. Cadillac, the luxury brand of General Motors, is actively expanding its lineup of electric cars and trying to lure customers from other manufacturers.

According to GM’s CEO, about 80% of Cadillac electric vehicle buyers previously did not own a vehicle from this brand. At the same time, one in ten of them is switching from Tesla. Particularly popular among former Tesla owners is the Cadillac Lyriq, chosen by 25% of such buyers.

Why are Tesla owners switching brands?

Experts believe that some buyers are deliberately abandoning Tesla, not just looking for an alternative. Cadillac offers an expanded selection of electric vehicles, including new models such as the Vistiq, making the brand more attractive to premium segment buyers.

Comparative data show that Lyriq buyers are also considering other models, such as the Acura ZDX or BMW iX. Tesla owners, on the other hand, are more likely to remain loyal to the brand, choosing new Tesla models. However, the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, and Cadillac has a chance to establish itself in the luxury segment.

The popularity of Cadillac electric vehicles among former Tesla owners may indicate a shift in buyer priorities. They are increasingly looking for alternatives, especially amid growing competition and expanding choices. Cadillac’s success will depend on whether the brand can sustain this momentum against general challenges such as charging infrastructure.
