Mysterious Stellantis Concept Opens a New Era for Powerful Opel Electric Vehicles

Opel Presents GSE Concept for IAA Mobility 2025

Opel has announced a new GSE concept car, which will debut at the IAA Mobility auto show in September. The car features a design inspired by retro rally models, with aerodynamic elements, a safety cage, and a sporty interior. The concept is set to become the hallmark of the brand’s future high-performance electric vehicles.

From the limited teasers, it can be seen that the model has received LED optics with the signature Opel Compass style, as well as a bright livery combining silver and lime colors. The wheel design is reminiscent of the legendary rally Manta 400 from the 1980s. The exact body type remains a mystery for now – it could be either a sports car or a crossover.

Technical Features and Details

The concept’s interior is executed in a racing style with a compact yoke steering wheel and a streamlined driver’s seat. The presence of a safety cage emphasizes that the car is designed with the requirements of track driving in mind.

“This car will make hearts beat faster again. It will showcase future models, impress with its design, and appeal to car enthusiasts all over the world,” said Opel CEO Florian Hüttl.

The full premiere will take place in Munich from September 8th to 14th. The GSE concept will become Opel’s second high-performance electric novelty after the recent announcement of a compact crossover. The brand’s lineup of fast electric vehicles is expected to be soon joined by the next generation of the Corsa.

The concept presentation takes place against the backdrop of Stellantis’s activation in the sports electric vehicle segment. Opel likely plans to compete with models such as the Abarth 500e and potential ‘hot’ versions of the Volkswagen ID. The success of the GSE could determine the development vector not only of the German brand but of the entire group of companies in the coming years.
