The New Luxury GT by Bovensiepen and Zagato
The first glance at the Bovensiepen Zagato might be confusing: is it a modified Mustang, or perhaps an updated version of the BMW 8-Series? In reality, it is an entirely new GT, created in collaboration with the Italian atelier Zagato. The car will debut at Villa d’Este this week.
The name Bovensiepen is familiar to BMW enthusiasts—it is the surname of Alpina’s founders. After BMW fully acquired the brand in 2022, the family decided to continue their work under their own name, focusing on creating exclusive automobiles.
“This was a collaborative effort, inspired by the idea of launching the first car of a new brand and combining the DNA of two families. When you merge two DNAs, the result should be stronger,” noted Andrea Zagato, president of Zagato.
Technical Features
The body of the Bovensiepen Zagato is almost entirely made of carbon fiber, compensating for the additional weight from the bespoke design. However, the total weight is 1,895 kg, which is 120 kg more than that of a standard M4.
The interior features updated finishes using premium materials. Buyers are offered 16 leather options, 45 shades of Alcantara, and other exclusive choices.
Engine and Dynamics
Details about the engine remain unknown, but Bovensiepen emphasized that the car is equipped with a lightweight exhaust system (22 kg) and specially tuned Bilstein Damptronic shock absorbers. Three driving modes are available: Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus.
Production will begin in 2026, with exact prices and the number of units to be announced at the end of 2025. The Bovensiepen Zagato is expected to be a rare and exclusive car, available only to a select group of collectors.
This project demonstrates how Alpina’s traditions merge with Italian charm from Zagato, creating something unique. While the design may spark debate, the very existence of such a car confirms that the luxury GT market continues to evolve, offering new surprises.
