Damaged Mercedes GLS with an unusual history is up for auction
A very unusual Mercedes GLS with a salvage title has appeared at the IAAI auction. The reason for this car’s condition was likely a jealous person who damaged the premium SUV after finding out about infidelity. On both sides of the car, the inscriptions “I know U with her” were left, and several windows were also smashed.
This 2022 model year vehicle has 47,501 miles on it, but due to the vandalism, the insurer declared it a total loss. The car is currently valued at $51,750, with this same amount listed as the estimated repair cost. As IAAI noted in their Instagram post:
“Aaannnd, now we all know. Should be an easy flip, but you might want to take this one out of state”
Is it worth buying such a car?
At first glance, the Mercedes doesn’t seem to need serious repairs – just replacing the windows and repainting the body. However, potential buyers should consider that the car has a salvage title due to vandalism, which could complicate its future resale or use.
This case is a reminder of how unpredictable the fates of cars on the used market can be. The story of the damaged Mercedes GLS is not just an example of vandalism, but also an interesting case for those who specialize in restoring and reselling cars. It’s worth noting that similar situations often lead to the appearance of unusual cars on the market with interesting, and sometimes tragicomic, histories.
