Service life of outdated Audi A8 extended until 2027, while other models receive minor updates

Audi updates model lineup for 2027: A8 remains, while e-tron GT is reduced

Audi has introduced updates for a number of 2027 models. Most of them have received simplified trim levels and revised option packages. The flagship A8 sedan continues to be produced, while the e-tron GT lineup has been reduced.

At the beginning of the year, rumors emerged that the Audi A8 was being discontinued. However, this is not the case — the flagship sedan returns to the American market in 2027. Although five years have passed since its last update, the A8 L model, priced at $95,100, remains almost unchanged. The only innovation is the addition of two new 21-inch wheels for the Black Optic package. They feature a Y-shaped design in matte neodymium gold or darkened two-tone finish.

The S8 model, priced at $130,000, has gone further — it is now standardly equipped with heated rear seats. Buyers will also find a new wheel option for the Black Optic package.

A5 / S5

The A5 lineup has been reduced to a single trim level for 2027 to “simplify ordering.” This is not the only change: a new Sport Plus package has appeared, which includes the S Line exterior, adaptive sport suspension, red brake calipers, and 20-inch wheels with summer tires.

The package also includes the S Line interior with front sport seats featuring diamond stitching, upholstered in leather and Dinamica. Buyers will also get a flat-bottom steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, and matte aluminum trim. Added to this are red contrast stitching and red seat belt edging.

The 2027 Audi A5 receives several new individual options, including a panoramic glass roof with adjustable lighting and the S sport suspension. The latter reduces ground clearance by 0.8 inches (20 mm).

Changes for the S5 are similar, and a new Vorsprung package has appeared, which adds digital OLED taillights and adaptive sport suspension. Other additions include a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger, heated rear seats, rear side sunshades, a park assist pro system, and a 360-degree camera with 3D view.

The price of the A5 has increased by $200 and now starts at $50,400, while the S5 has gone up by $300 and starts at $63,600.

A6

The 2027 Audi A6 will cost $64,900 and now comes standard with a heated steering wheel and a surround-view camera. Buyers will also find “new headliner trim combinations, including a black headliner for black and brown interiors, while a gray headliner is retained for beige interiors.” The option packages have also been updated, but that is all.

Q3

Since the Q3 was redesigned for the 2026 model year, changes are minor and include additional standard equipment. Key is the “direct tire pressure monitoring system for better awareness,” as well as Adaptive Rear Assist, which can automatically apply the brakes if a rear-end collision is imminent.

Buyers will also find a “new configuration” of the Convenience package, which bundles several popular options. These include a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a 3-month trial of SiriusXM. The package also includes Park Assist and a surround-view camera.

Additionally, the Driver Assistance package gains a head-up display and a remote-control park assist pro system, as well as trained parking.

The starting price is $44,400, which is $700 more.

Q8 / SQ8 / RS Q8

Returning to aging models, the 2027 Q8 is now standardly equipped with the S Line exterior and new 21-inch wheels. Customers will also find a Black Optic package, which can now be ordered with new 22-inch wheels with a matte neodymium gold finish.

The SQ8 offers new optional 23-inch wheels with a black metallic finish when ordered with the Black Optic package. The RS Q8 performance, on the other hand, simply receives new standard acoustic laminated side glass.

Prices start at $76,900 and reach $139,700 for the top version.

e-tron GT

Finally, Audi appears to have removed the base S e-tron GT model for 2027. As a result, the only model remaining is the RS e-tron GT performance, priced at $170,500. It “remains almost unchanged, except for the addition of a gloss black Singleframe grille to the Forged carbon package.”

Thus, Audi continues to support its traditional models such as the A8 and Q8, despite their age, while simultaneously streamlining its e-tron GT electric vehicle lineup. This indicates a strategy of gradual transition to electrification, where some models receive minor updates, while others are reduced to simplify production and ordering. The price increases for most models reflect a general market trend, where inflation and the cost of new technologies influence the final price of vehicles.
