Tesla Returns the Signal Stalk to Model 3 in China
Tesla has decided to bring back the traditional turn signal stalk for the updated Model 3 Highland on the Chinese market. This change applies to all trim levels of the car. Owners who have already purchased a car without the stalk will be able to order an official retrofit through the company’s service centers.
Update Details
From mid-September, an accessory for modifying the steering wheel with a turn signal stalk will become available in China at a price of about $350. Installation will require special equipment, so only official Tesla service centers will perform the mounting. The new stalk will have a design similar to the one used in the Model S and Model X.
Initially, the update will only be available for cars produced after February 2025, but later Tesla plans to expand compatibility to all versions of the Model 3 Highland. A similar offering is likely to appear in other markets, including Europe and North America.
Previously, some owners had already used unofficial solutions from third-party manufacturers to restore the familiar way of controlling turn signals. However, they will now be able to get an official option from Tesla.
