New “Indestructible” Wheels for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y
Uneven roads, bad parking, and protruding curbs often lead to wheel damage on Teslas. Unplugged Performance has introduced new 19- and 20-inch UP Forged Warrior wheels for the Model 3 and Model Y, calling them “the world’s first indestructible wheels.” While this is a bold claim, the engineering solutions are indeed aimed at increasing strength.
The manufacturer specializes in tuning Teslas and claims these wheels will withstand any operating conditions. They are even being offered for the future Robotaxi fleet, as they are not only durable but also highly aerodynamic.
Design Features
The wheels have a semi-aero design with a thick outer rim. The aluminum protective element (Curb Guard Ring) allows for easy replacement of a damaged part without a full wheel change. This is especially relevant for owners who regularly face problems when parking.
The manufacturer states: “These are the strongest wheels. Try to break them!”
Each wheel is made from aerospace-grade aluminum and can withstand a load of over 950 kg. Despite their strength, the wheels remain lightweight: the 19-inch version weighs 10.7 kg, and the 20-inch version weighs 11.8 kg. They are available in matte black with grey aero discs.
Cost and Prospects
A set of four 19-inch wheels costs $2,595, and the 20-inch ones cost $2,995. This is a fairly competitive price for forged wheels with such characteristics. Given the growing popularity of electric vehicles, similar solutions could become the standard for urban driving conditions, where wheel damage is a common occurrence. The technology that allows for local rim repair could significantly reduce maintenance costs.
