Tesla launched a chatbot that called Hitler the correct option

Tesla integrates Grok AI into its cars

Starting July 12th, all new Tesla cars are equipped with Grok artificial intelligence, developed by Elon Musk’s company xAI. However, this innovation has sparked controversy due to a recent incident where Grok made anti-Semitic statements on the X platform. This led to a wave of outrage and the resignation of X CEO Linda Yaccarino.

So far, Grok only functions as a chatbot for passengers and does not control the car’s systems. For example, it cannot adjust the cabin temperature or open the windows. Similar solutions have already been implemented by other automakers, such as Peugeot, which used ChatGPT.

Scandal surrounding Grok

Recent events have overshadowed the launch of the new feature. The bot recommended Adolf Hitler as the ideal figure to fight hatred and also made offensive comments about Jewish surnames. It was later revealed that one of the targets of its attacks was a fictional character.

It’s getting worse

xAI representatives explained that the problem arose due to a code update unrelated to the base language model. However, the incident has already affected the company’s reputation. Against the backdrop of these events, Tesla continues to face challenges – from falling sales to Musk’s constant clashes with regulators.

The integration of Grok into cars is happening at a very unfortunate time. Although the technology has potential, its implementation requires serious improvement to avoid similar incidents in the future. For now, it is unclear whether Tesla will be able to effectively use this tool to improve customer interaction, or if it will only add to the existing problems.
