Test of the New Nissan Juke 2020: Objective Opinion on the Long-Awaited Crossover

The second-generation Nissan Juke is one of the most anticipated new models of the year. Its predecessor sold a million copies, and, of course, big expectations are placed on the new model. Test of the New Nissan Juke 2020: Objective Opinion on the Long-Awaited Crossover

Here is the first Russian-language test of the Nissan Juke 2020, which can be considered objective. It is based on reviews from leading world auto journalists who have already tested the new Nissan Juke. By the way, it is already on sale in Europe.

The design of the Nissan Juke 2020 can be called evolutionary because the crossover’s silhouette remains familiar, the rear door handles are hidden in the pillars, and the headlights are still two-tiered. However, the optics are now LED even in the basic version, and the rear wings are more extended. Test of the New Nissan Juke 2020: Objective Opinion on the Long-Awaited Crossover

Moreover, the Nissan Juke 2020 is built on the new CMF-B platform (like the new Renault Clio and Captur). Although it has grown to 4210 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, and 1595 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2635 mm, it has become lighter by 23 kg (1182 kg). While the exterior of the Juke is recognizable, the interior has undergone radical changes.

Not only has the design changed: journalists note improved material quality. The top version, Tekna, uses leather and Alcantara, even on the dashboard. Test of the New Nissan Juke 2020: Objective Opinion on the Long-Awaited Crossover

The crossover also features a more advanced multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen. It supports Apple CarPlay Android Auto, and there is satellite navigation with online traffic. The steering wheel, flattened at the bottom, can now be adjusted for both height and reach, and the driver’s seat has an extended adjustment range.

The optional sports seats have much better lateral support. However, due to the wide “shoulders,” rear visibility is not the best. Test of the New Nissan Juke 2020: Objective Opinion on the Long-Awaited Crossover

The increased dimensions positively impacted the interior space. There is now 58 mm more knee room and 11 mm more headroom in the back. The trunk volume is now 422 liters.

In Europe, the new Nissan Juke already comes standard with adaptive cruise control, automatic slowing systems, and road sign recognition. Options include Wi-Fi, active lane keeping and blind spot control, and even the ProPilot semi-autonomous driving system. Initially, only a liter 117-horsepower turbo engine is available, although a hybrid is also promised later. The engine is quite lively and, of course, much more torquey than the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder. The peak torque reaches 180 Nm (short-term in Overboost mode – 200 Nm) and is available from 1750 rpm.

With a 6-speed manual transmission, acceleration to a hundred takes 10.4 seconds, and with a CVT – 11.1 seconds. The average fuel consumption has been reduced to 6.4 and 5.8 l/100 km, respectively. Moreover, the three-cylinder engine is surprisingly quiet. Test of the New Nissan Juke 2020: Objective Opinion on the Long-Awaited Crossover

However, aerodynamic noise at high speeds becomes noticeable. But the new Juke is more comfortable than its predecessor and, even with optional 19-inch wheels, not too stiff.

At the same time, body roll in corners is small, and the steering has become a little lighter. The new Nissan Juke will appear in Ukraine in the second half of 2020. It is expected that its starting price will be slightly less than half a million hryvnias. Most likely, the Nissan crossover will come to us with the same engine as the European version.
