Chinese automaker GAC has unveiled a new hybrid crossover S7, which instantly gained popularity in the domestic market. In just the first 12 hours after the start of sales, over 10 thousand orders were placed for this model!
GAC S7 is a plug-in hybrid crossover with a length of 4.9 meters and a wheelbase of 2.88 meters, making it a competitor to models such as the Li Auto L6. The car is equipped with a hybrid powertrain, which includes a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 160 horsepower and one or two electric motors depending on the modification. In the front-wheel drive version, the electric motor has a power of 231 horsepower, providing a total output of 392 horsepower. The all-wheel drive version is additionally equipped with a second electric motor on the rear axle, increasing the total power to 501 horsepower.
The base model comes with a 21.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing up to 155 kilometers of electric range in the CLTC cycle and a total range of up to 905 kilometers in mixed mode. The version with a larger 36.3 kWh battery can travel up to 205 kilometers on electric power and has a total range of up to 1150 kilometers. The all-wheel drive version with the same battery provides 180 kilometers of electric range and a total range of 1020 kilometers.
The interior of the GAC S7 is adorned with soft nappa leather, and the front panel has a two-layer construction with a retractable speaker that can be used as a portable speaker. The digital instrument panel has a diagonal of 8.9 inches, and the central touchscreen of the multimedia system is 15.6 inches. In addition, the rear passengers are provided with a 17.3-inch display with a resolution of 3K, built into the ceiling.
The cost of the GAC S7 in the Chinese market ranges from 175.8 to 229.8 thousand yuan, which is approximately equivalent to 2–2.63 million hryvnias at the current exchange rate.
